Statement on the passing of Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke
Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke passed away today, December 7, 2019 at the age of 79. Evg Bonnke founded Christ for All Nations in 1974 and was by many accounts the most effective and prolific evangelist in history, with over 77 million recorded salvations during his ministry. His crusades were groundbreaking in scope, regularly drawing hundreds of thousands and even millions, with 1.6 million people in attendance at a single service in his November, 2000 crusade in Lagos, Nigeria. Bonnke’s ministry was also marked by the fire and power of the Holy Spirit. Declaring that God had a “flame for every head” Bonnke prayed for millions to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
Bonnke was an early supporter of the Empowered21 network, serving as a member of the Empowered21 Global Council from 2013. His successor at Christ for All Nations, Evangelist Daniel Kolenda, serves as the co-chair of the Empowered21 Global Evangelist Alliance and many members of the Empowered21 network have been deeply influenced by Bonnke’s legacy of faith, vision and passion for the lost.
Dr. Billy Wilson, Empowered21 Global Co-chair said of Bonnke’s passing, “Reinhard Bonnke was the most fruitful evangelist in Christian history. His ministry touched millions including me. His example, his integrity, his anointing, his focus and his message all served as a profound inspiration. He was the most single-minded minister I have ever met. Reinhard gave his all (including his body) to reach the lost. One can only imagine the throng of redeemed that welcomed him home today. In 2015 Empowered21 honored Reinhard with a Lifetime Global Achievement Award during Oral Roberts University’s 50th Anniversary Celebration. Today, his true reward began. We join in prayer for his family and all of our friends at CFAN as they continue Reinhard’s legacy of harvest.”
