Pentecostal World Fellowship Announces Dr. William Wilson as New Chairman


TULSA, Okla., Sept. 3, 2019 – On August 29 at the Pentecostal World Fellowship’s 25th triennial conference in Alberta, Canada, Dr. William M. Wilson was elevated to the role of chairman of the organization, leading along with 30 total advisory committee members as they represent Pentecostal organizations from around the world.

The Pentecostal World Fellowship is the world’s largest global collaboration of Pentecostals, representing 61 denominations and organizations from across the globe. This year’s conference was attended by more than 3,000 delegates from 75 countries. As a cooperative body comprised of Pentecostal organizations, the mission of the Pentecostal World Fellowship is to “unite and mobilize the global Spirit-filled family in completing the Great Commission of Jesus Christ.”

This honor bestowed upon me by such an esteemed group of world leaders is humbling,” said Wilson. “The Pentecostal World Fellowship has a rich history of leadership of the Pentecostal movement, and it is a privilege to be part of advancing its charge to fulfill the great commission.”

Wilson is preceded by former chairman Dr. Prince Guneratnam of Malaysia, who is transitioning to the role of honorary advisory member. Other members elected to the Executive Committee were Dr. David Wells of Canada as vice chair and Dr. Doug Beacham of the United States as secretary. Bishop Dag Heward-Mills of Ghana, Rev. Dominic Yeo of Singapore, Rev. Pelle Hornmark of Sweden and Rev. Younghoon Lee of Korea were elected as committee members.

Wilson serves as president of Oral Roberts University and holds a Master of Arts and a Doctorate in Ministry from Pentecostal Theological Seminary in Cleveland, Tennessee. He is the global co- chair of Empowered21, a worldwide relational network of leaders across the Spirit-empowered church whose mission is to see every person on Earth have an authentic encounter with Jesus Christ through the power and presence of the Holy Spirit by Pentecost 2033. He is also heading the Empowered21 global congress Jerusalem2020, a gathering inviting believers from around the world to experience the power of the Holy Spirit next year in Jerusalem. Empowered21 is a kingdom initiative served by Oral Roberts University.
