Empowered21 Hosts Pentecost Unity Celebration and Baptism Service at the Jordan River

JERUSALEM – Empowered21 hosted thousands of Spirit-empowered Christians during a Pentecost Unity Celebration and Baptism Service at the Jordan River on Saturday, May 23, 2015.

“The Jordan River Celebration was a special time of worship and unity for the body of Christ,” said Empowered21 President and Global Co-Chair William M. Wilson. “This was a joyous day for many Spirit-empowered believers from around the world as they reflected on Jesus’ own baptism. Seeing many people emerge from the water with cheers was an incredible testament to the community of faith represented at this Congress.”

The Pentecost Unity Celebration and Baptism Service at the Jordan River, near Jericho, was held at the spot where it is believed Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist. Approximately 500 people were baptized.

The Pentecost Unity Celebration and Baptism Service was sponsored by Crossroads Television and 100 Huntley Street. Millions watched live through networks including GodTV, TBN Australia and TBN Russia. Many viewed the service through the live stream at www.empowered21.com. The Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) will rebroadcast portions of this service at a later date.

Baptisms were accompanied by worship and teaching from Omar Cabrera, Jr., senior pastor and president of Vision de Futuro; Lawrence Khong, senior pastor of Faith Community Baptist Church; Ron Luce, founder of Teen Mania Ministries; Ron and Ann Mainse, founders of Crossroads Television; Chadwick Mohan, lead pastor of New Life Assembles of God; Opoku Onyinah, president of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council; David Wells, general superintendent of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada; and Scott Wilson, senior pastor of Oaks Fellowship.

Sunday, May 24, attendees will spend the day in continuous worship and prayer at several points around the city of Jerusalem including the King of Kings Community.

The Global Congress will end Sunday night in a full-throttle Pentecost celebration at the Pais Arena. Believers from around the world will unite to ask for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit to reach the ends of the Earth. This event is the celebration of Shavuot, occurring the same day as Pentecost Sunday on the western calendar.
